Rock-on-a-Roll's standard color is Cobblestone, a blend of gray and brown tones with subtle yellow highlights that works well with a wide range of natural stone and landscape settings.
Slate Gray has been discontinued. We have a small amount remaining that is reserved for previous customers who need to match or add to an existing Slate Gray installation. Once this supply is gone, Slate Gray will no longer be available. Learn more about Slate Gray availability.
Size and weight
All rolls of Rock-on-a-Roll are 34 inches wide. They are available in lengths of 8 feet, 16 feet, 24 feet, 32 feet and 40 feet (multiples of 8 feet). The thickness of Rock-on-a-Roll varies somewhat, but it is about the same thickness as pond liner. An 8 foot roll weighs about 5 pounds. The longer rolls weigh proportionately more.
Flexibility
Rock-on-a-Roll is thin and highly flexible, allowing it to conform to virtually any shape—including wrapping easily around the edge of a preformed liner. This quick clip of Rock-on-a-Roll shows just how flexible it is.

Where to use Rock-on-a-Roll
A pond's bottom will become natural looking on its own over time, so Rock-on-a-Roll isn't usually needed there. It's the sides of the pond (and streams) that often present a challenge. Stacking rocks may be difficult, expensive and unstable, and that is what Rock-on-a-Roll is really designed to help with.
Installing Rock-on-a-Roll
Rock-on-a-Roll can be installed with the pond either full or empty, though installation is generally easier without water. It does not float, but it has some “body,” so when going around curves it may not lay perfectly flat. We recommend holding it in place along the top and bottom edges with stones, plant pots, or whatever is practical. If that’s not possible, it can be glued—DAP Weldwood contact adhesive is the easiest option if fish are not a concern; if the pond will contain fish, good choices include 100% silicone caulk or polyurethane expanding foam.
Rock-on-a-Roll cuts easily with a utility knife (it may dull scissors) and is designed to be installed over an impermeable liner, not to hold water itself. Seaming is usually unnecessary, as pieces can typically be overlapped and concealed with a few stones.
Designed specifically for water gardens, Rock-on-a-Roll is safe for fish and plants, UV resistant, and unaffected by water submersion, freeze/thaw cycles, or other environmental conditions. It is made entirely of inert polymers, with no cement products, and is built to provide years of service.
